The Alberta Pituitary Patient Society is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our members, donors, and the public. This privacy statement outlines the principles and practices we follow to manage the personal information we collect.

IDENTIFYING PURPOSES

When we request personal information, we will identify the purposes for which it will be used at or before the time the information is collected.


We will collect only the personal information we need to provide services to our members, donors, or the public, including personal information needed to

·       deliver information, programs, and services

·       enrol members

·       register members or the public in a program

·       share information about our society or its programs and services

CONSENT

We will ask for consent to collect, use, or disclose personal information, except in circumstances where disclosure without consent is authorized or required by law.

LIMITING COLLECTION

We will limit collection of personal information only to what is necessary to meet the identified purposes in order to provide information, services, and programs to our members, donors, and the public.

LIMITING USE, DISCLOSURE, AND RETENTION

We will use or disclose personal information only for the purposes for which the information was collected, except as authorized by law. We will retain personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the identified purposes for which the information was collected or for legal or business purposes.

ACCURACY

We will make every reasonable effort to ensure personal information is accurate and complete. Members have access to their personal information on our site. We rely on members to update their personal information if it has changed.

SAFEGUARDS

We will protect personal information in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity of the information, as well as limit access to that personal information.

OPENNESS

When requested, we will provide information about the policies and practices we apply to manage personal information.

INDIVIDUAL ACCESS

When an individual asks us about our use of their personal information, we will provide information about its collection, use, and disclosure.
